I’m looking at purchasing a book to replace that one and don’t remember anything about the book to be able to find and buy another copy. I’ve found various free pdf files online for the major and minor scales in the first and second octaves, but I really liked having them all in one book. Try moving out of those box patterns you know (e.g. 3 notes per string) across different strings, using the single string sequence you've learned. Then try moving into a box pattern from a single string run. What this practice does is open your eyes to different routes across the fretboard, both vertical and horizontal, for different scales.

Essential Technique for Strings Book 3 further develops music skills for the intermediate and advancing student. Book 3 introduces students to higher positions, shifting, advanced bowing, and special techniques. For more information, click on each of the bullet points below. Guitar Scales Guitar Scales Regardless what instrument you play, learning to play scales is a rite of passage.       Welcome to part two of modal/parent major scale lesson series that's been adapted from the forthcoming, GuitArchitect's Guide To Modes book. In the last post, I showed how to visualize a major scale on a single string using seven connecting patterns. (Note: you can see that lesson here). In this lesson, I'm going to expand on those fingerings. (Creative Concepts Publishing). All of the essential diagrams, drawings and information concerning theory, scales, and their uses in one easy-to-use book! Covers the five essential scales for today's guitarists major, major pentatonic, minor, minor pentatonic and blues with a unique Linking System that makes it easy to understand scales like a pro!/5.
